The Rannastausee is used as a water reservoir for the Kramesau power station on the Danube
and as a fishing lake known for its biodiversity!

Between 1947 and 1950, the "OÖ Kraftwerke AG" built the Rannatal dam in its current form. The reservoir behind the dam serves as a water reservoir for the power station in Kramesau.
The powerhouse in Kramesau is located on the Danube and is connected to the Ranna reservoir by a tunnel.

The dam - which is almost 50 metres high and the dam crest is 125 metres long - dams up the Ranna for four kilometres to near the village of Oberkappl to 2.35 million cubic metres of water.

The Ranna reservoir is used from the dam wall to Oberkappel as a fishing water known for its biodiversity.

From Austria:
Autobahn A1 to Linz, from Linz on the B 127 to Altenfelden roundabout, turn off towards Lembach-Hofkirchen, continue to the turn-off to Pfarrkirchen

From Germany:
Autobahn A3 to Passau Nord. Take the B 388 towards Wegscheid until the junction to Oberkappel (border). From Oberkappel (crossroads) follow signs to Pfarrkirchen.

Train:
From Austria:
Mühlkreisbahn to Neufelden station, from there take a taxi (Heinzl company in Pfarrkirchen) to Pfarrkirchen - Rannastausee.

From Germany:
Train station Passau, from there take a taxi (Heinzl in Pfarrkirchen) to Pfarrkirchen - Rannastausee.

Airport:
Airport Linz/Hörsching. From there take a taxi (Heinzl in Pfarrkirchen) to Pfarrkirchen.

Boat:
On the Danube to the landing stage in Niederranna. From there, continue by taxi (Heinzl company in Pfarrkirchen) to Pfarrkirchen.
