PANEUM – The Chamber of Wonders of Bread

Asten, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Experience the wonder of bread!
Bread is our daily bread. No other food plays such a prominent role in all our lives—in our daily routines, in cultures, in religions, and, not least, in the way we speak.
The Paneum invites you on a journey into this fascinating world—from the invention of bread to the wide variety of breads available today. Art and cultural artifacts spanning 9,000 years and from many parts of the world invite you to marvel and listen.

Paneum is an experience that engages all the senses. An exhibition that aims to open the eyes, ears, mouths, and minds to the wonder of bread.

Egyptian grain mummies and toy cars, Peruvian totem poles and Meissen porcelain, Chinese granaries, guild tools, paintings, and thousands of books—the collection that forms the foundation of the Paneum spans both the globe and the ages. And it has only one unifying thread: bread.
