Description: Due to the snow and weather conditions, the Rieder Hütte will be closed in February 2026. If the conditions improve in March, the hut could possibly be reopened in winter, but this is still open.
The Rieder Hütte is an hut of the Austrian alpine club and belongs to the section Ried im Innkreis.
At 1765 m, the Rieder Hütte is located in the Höllengebirge on the course of the European long-distance hiking trail E4, very close to the Großer Höllkogel. The hut is ideal for a day hike from the Feuerkogel plateau, or as an overnight accommodation for the crossing of the Höllengebirge (Hochleckenhaus).
In winter, the hut is a popular destination for snowshoe hikers and ski tourers. The hut has 36 camp sleeping places. The water is elaborately obtained from rainwater and a recycling plant. Electricity is generated by a photovoltaic system and a combined heat and power plant. The toilet is an ecological dry toilet (sometimes it can smell a bit).

Depending on snow conditions, it may be possible to spend the night in the Rieder Hütte from spring 2026.
The Pentecost weekend is planned or from 4.6.2026 at the latest, from this date the hut will be open continuously until 24.10.2026.
