Gmunden's favorite custom Liebstatt Sunday “Intangible Cultural Heritage”

A real LIEBSTATTHERZ helps against any kind of pain - that's why this was invented in Gmunden centuries ago.

Program March 30, 2025:

 09:30 Farmers' mass with the Gmunden town choir in the parish church

10:30 am Procession with the Gmunden town band from the church square through the old town to the town hall square

10:45 a.m. Program Rathausplatz: Welcome by Mayor Stefan Krapf, explanation of the Liebstatt custom by the chairman of the Trachtenverein Franz Wolfsgruber followed by the distribution of hearts. Sale of Liebstat hearts at the stalls in the town.

12:00 - 17:00 Musical program (SKGT Trio and “Krauhölzl Ob&Zua”) at the Rathausplatz.

13:00 - 14:00 Square concert by the Laufen Gmunden-Engelhof works band

14:00 - 16:00 Children's program with “Herzerlverzieren” at Schubertplatz

10:00 - 16:00 Ceramic painting for the whole family in the Gmundner Keramik. Action: take 3 pay 2

11:30 + 13:30 + 15:00 Liebstattfahrten with the Traunsee boat tour. Castle cruises (approx. 1 h) from Gmunden - Rathausplatz.

9:30 - 17:00 Opening hours Grünberg mountain railroad and Salzkammergut treetop walk

Nostalgia trips with the GM5 art nouveau railcar (built in 1911) of the Gmunden tramway between 09:00 and 18:00,

In the course of Liebstatt Sunday, the Traunseetram will also run free of charge all day!

• Free ride on the Traunseetram in zone 1 (Gmunden Engelhof - Gmunden Bahnhof).
• Take public transport to Liebstattsonntag (Traunsteintaxi, regional buses...), or park your car conveniently at the P&R facility in Gmunden Engelhof or at Gmunden train station. From there you can take the Traunseetram free of charge directly to Rathausplatz and the town centre.

Please note: Nostalgia rides are excluded from the free ride.
