In an absolutely secluded location, with direct access to Europe's largest network of bridle paths, situated at 1000 metres above sea level, the KernAlm is located in the very north of the Mühlviertler Alm.

Nestled in unspoilt nature, on the edge of a forest, the KernAlm is a special spot of unspoilt nature.

Here you simply go on vacation!

Set in untouched nature, on the edge of a forest, the KernAlm is a special spot of originality. In the morning, you wake up to the chirping of birds and the first warm rays of sunshine streaming through the window. In the evening, no sound disturbs your peaceful sleep. A holiday destination without constraints, for self-caterers with or without horses. Here you can fully enjoy freedom for yourself. And all of this before a spectacular view of the mountains.

With us, you will find originality and simplicity combined with rustic living comfort and the charm of a mountain hut. Expect a well-kept country house, a holiday apartment with a hut character, a Tiny House, and a unique view that promises relaxation & rejuvenation.

At the KernAlm, both the country house and the new holiday apartment feature a sauna for feeling good and relaxing. Enjoy the interplay of hot and cold while doing something for your health and truly unwinding. You don’t need much.
In the sauna with pasture view, let your gaze wander over the paddock and hills of the Mühlviertler Alm and clear your mind. Refresh yourself after a hot infusion and then breathe in the fresh mountain air. A feeling like being reborn!

Only 20m from the country house is the holiday apartment Weideblick, completed in 2021. It impresses with its charming, modern cabin character, where two people can make themselves comfortable.

Lots of wood in airy heights. The holiday apartment strongly resembles a log cabin with its generous and open layout, while the view is more like that of a tree house.

Here at KernAlm, you can dedicate yourself intensively to yourself, your horse, and fellow travelers in the surrounding nature. Here you will find the authenticity and simplicity of a mountain hut combined with some comfort. You can expect a well-kept country house, a unique view, and a place of relaxation & tranquility for yourself.

FACILITIES:

The country house has two double rooms with a shared bathroom (shower, toilet, hairdryer) and a common room with a kitchenette on the upper floor.

On the ground floor, there is a cozy large living room with a tile stove, sitting area with a sofa bed, Wi-Fi, and TV. Additionally, there is a fully equipped kitchen (kitchenette, dishes, general cooking utensils, electric stove, coffee maker, kettle, sink, refrigerator with freezer) available for shared use. You will also find a separate toilet on the ground floor.

The terrace with winter garden will surely quickly become your favorite spot. Here, you can observe the most beautiful sunsets while your horses graze peacefully in the foreground. Whether actively grilling in front of the house or relaxing in a deck chair with a good glass of wine, this is a place to unwind at the end of the day. The country house also has its own sauna for feeling good and relaxing.

Tiny House

A house on wheels, well protected in the middle of nature, tastefully equipped everything in a small space. The wood stove spreads cozy warmth, in the cozy bed you sleep blissfully and safely. The outdoor area is generous and allows for privacy, breakfast outside, lounging in the garden chair, no one disturbs the other. Those who enjoy socializing meet up for a barbecue…

Although we are indoors, the entire stay feels more like an endless outdoor moment. The size does not detract from the quality of the stay.

Directions to KernAlm from Vienna via Zwettl

Access via the A1 (Westautobahn) to the St. Pölten exit on the S33 towards Krems. The S33 merges into the B37/B38 towards Zwettl. Stay on this road through Groß Gerungs, Langschlag until you reach Liebenau. In Liebenau, drive through the town until you reach the Spar supermarket. Pass the Spar market, and 100m before the gas station, turn left towards Liebenstein. After about 1.5 km you will reach the Kobelberg Pass (viewpoint). 300m after the Kobelberg Pass, at the first turning point (mailbox), turn left into the forest. After 200m you will have reached your destination, KernAlm.

Directions to KernAlm from Germany

Access via the A8 (Passau Autobahn) or the A1 (Westautobahn), exit Linz (Mühlviertel), then continue on the A7 (towards Prague/Freistadt). The highway merges into the S10 - direction Freistadt. At the end of the highway in Freistadt, take the 1st exit at the roundabout towards Schlag/Sandl (B38). After driving through Sandl, you will come to the PFERDEREICH sign on the route. Here, turn right towards Gugu. Stay on the road and drive through the elongated settlement of Gugu until you reach the intersection. At the intersection, turn left towards Liebenau. Follow Harrachstaler District Road to Liebenau. 100m after the gas station, turn right towards Liebenstein. After about 1.5 km you will reach the Kobelberg Pass (viewpoint). 300m after the Kobelberg Pass, at the first turning point (mailbox), turn left into the forest. After 200m you will have reached your destination, KernAlm.
