The nature experience trail "Auf der Alm" is ideal for families with children and nature lovers who appreciate leisurely hikes with refreshment stops.
Designed as a circular trail with low gradients, it offers various entry points between the Hengstpass pass summit and the Laussabauernalm. A possible starting point is the car park near the Karlhütte at the large wooden horse "Hengsti" (turnoff to the Rotkreuz Chapel).
From the Karlhütte, walk slightly downhill to the Rot-Kreuz-Kapelle (Red Cross Chapel). Walk along the Rotkreuz stream to the Laussabauernalm. Continue over the Hengstpass road and walk slightly uphill across alpine meadows to the Puglalm. From there, a short path leads you up to the National Park panorama viewpoint. Here you have a magnificent view of the Haller and Kamper walls. Return to the Karlhütte and you are back at the starting point.
At stations such as the butterfly and orchid wheel, a quiz and at the Puglalm biotope, you will discover interesting facts about the extraordinary diversity and abundance of species on the alp. Walking time at a leisurely pace approx. 2 hours. Tip: Take a detour from the Red Cross Chapel to the Egglalm, approx. 1 hour.
