E-bike pleasure tour: Danube Loop Tour

More watts. More wow.

There are cycle tours. And there are experiences that do something to you. The e-bike pleasure tour R1.04 Donauschlingen-Runde clearly belongs to the second category. While the battery of your e-bike discharges kilometre by kilometre, you recharge yourself. With impressions. With far-reaching views. With pleasure.

Close to the river - part of the Danube

Start where you can feel the Danube most intensely: on the Treppelweg near Wesenufer. The water rushes beside you, the mighty river is at eye level. And suddenly you change perspective - by ferry or boat. A brief moment that stays with you. You are not just a cyclist here. Here you are part of the river. You only realise at second glance that Wesenufer is one of the oldest Danube towns in Upper Austria. Once an overpass, today the starting point for one of the most impressive e-bike tours in the country.

Flying high - two worlds in one tour

Then the trail picks up. 280 metres in altitude up to the Sauwald high plateau. The sweat is flowing - and so are the thoughts. And at the top? A new world. Gentle panoramic trails, rural cultural landscape, far-reaching views as far as the Alpine foothills. A first stop at the Paschinger Hügel, then the highlight: the meditation pyramid on the Etzing hill. Architecture meets tranquillity, Alpine views meet contemplation. A place of power that is more than just a viewpoint.

The natural work of art - the Schlögener Donauschlinge

Later, after a brisk descent, comes the moment that many people don't expect: a short walk through the forest, and then this view. From the platform "Schlögener Donaublick" platform a natural work of art reveals itself: the Danube makes two perfect 180-degree bends here within just a few kilometres. No photo or video can prepare you for this. You have to see it. And feel it. Only here do you realise why the Schlögener Donauschlinge is one of Austria's great natural wonders.

History along the way - enjoyment at the destination

Back on the river, you cycle through the narrow gorge, past the little church of Inzell, the Schlögen Roman Park part of the Danube Limes UNESCO World Heritage Site.
And then the crowning glory: the ferry ride across the Danube. Change of perspective number three - this time in the middle of the river. The reward awaits at the Hotel Donauschlinge. Freshly caught Danube fish, served on a Roman foundation. A gourmet finale that you wouldn't expect in the middle of a cycle tour - but will never forget.
