Day 1 - Individual arrival in Passau
Arrive individually in the historic Three Rivers City of Passau, where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers meet. After checking in at your hotel, you will receive your travel documents. If you have booked a rental bike, it can be collected from our nearby bike rental station. Take some time to explore Passau's charming Old Town and impressive St. Stephen's Cathedral before your self-guided cycling holiday begins.

Day 2 - From Passau to the Schlögener Schlinge, approx. 40 km
Your cycling tour along the Danube Cycle Path begins with a relaxing ride through the beautiful Upper Danube Valley. Along the way, you pass Engelszell Abbey, Austria's only Trappist monastery, famous for its handcrafted liqueurs and monastery products. The highlight of today's stage is the spectacular Schlögener Schlinge, where the Danube makes a dramatic 180-degree bend through the surrounding hills—one of the most iconic natural landmarks on the Danube Cycle Path.

Day 3 - From the Schlögener Schlinge to Linz, approx. 65 km
Continue your cycling holiday in Austria through peaceful river landscapes, wooded hills, and the fertile Eferding Basin before reaching Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. Linz combines a charming historic centre with modern architecture, vibrant cultural life, and a beautiful riverside promenade.

Day 4 - From Linz to Grein/surroundings, approx. 60 km
Spend the morning exploring Linz before continuing along the Danube Cycle Path towards the scenic Strudengau region. Cycle through quiet floodplain forests and picturesque countryside before arriving in the charming riverside town of Grein, home to Austria's oldest operating theatre and a beautifully preserved historic centre.

Day 5 - From Grein to the Wachau, approx. 60 km
Today's ride is one of the highlights of your Passau to Vienna cycling tour. Follow the Danube past castles, small villages, and rolling countryside until the magnificent Melk Abbey comes into view. From here, you enter the world-famous Wachau Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its vineyards, apricot orchards, medieval villages, and stunning river scenery.

Day 6 - Through the Wachau to Krems, approx. 40 km
Enjoy one of the most scenic stages of your cycling holiday along the Danube. Ride through the picturesque wine villages of Spitz, Weißenkirchen, and Dürnstein, surrounded by terraced vineyards overlooking the river. Finish the day in the historic town of Krems, where traditional wine taverns (Heurigen) invite you to sample regional wines and local Austrian cuisine.

Day 7 - From Krems to Vienna + train ride, approx. 60 km
Your final stage follows the Danube before taking a train from Tulln to Vienna. Austria's elegant capital offers countless attractions, including St. Stephen's Cathedral, Schönbrunn Palace, the Hofburg, and its famous coffeehouse culture. This memorable cycling holiday from Passau to Vienna perfectly combines breathtaking scenery, rich history, and Austrian hospitality.

Day 8 - Return journey or extension in Vienna
After breakfast, your Danube Cycle Path holiday comes to an end. Return to Passau by train during Seasons A and B (please note that personal bicycles are not included on the train transfer). During Season C, the return transfer is by bus, including bicycle transport. A train transfer can also be arranged on request. If you would like to spend more time in Vienna, we recommend booking an additional night to explore the city's imperial landmarks, museums, and vibrant atmosphere at your own pace.
