The "Waldweber" woodworker

Gosau, Oberösterreich, Österreich

The woodworker with a passion for his craft. If you give him wood, a lot of shavings fall off, but that what remains is a unique woodcraft from the Gosau valley!

A huge love for woodcraft!

This is obvious the moment you set eyes on the farmhouse of family Gamsjäger in Gosau at Dachstein, better known by their house name "Waldweber" (Forest Weaver). An exhibition room lies above the workshop, in which bowls and many other works of hand-carved art can be admired and, of course, purchased. The stunning wooden bowls are the perfect souvenir to bring home from your holiday in the Salzkammergut!

The woodworkers

Jakob Gamsjäger, better known as Tschak and Hans Gamsjäger "Der Weise" share the passion for wood and with it also the lathe and what else belongs to it!

A visit to the Waldweber is almost always possible. A phone call is appreciated to make sure that someone is definitely at home to meet you! In the first and second Advent weeks, Jakob Gamsjäger display their works at the Gosau "Bergweihnacht" (Christmas market).
