Krokodil in der Pfarrgasse

During the lifetime of the Vergeiner brothers, there was a brewery here, which was remodelled at the end of the 19th century by the businessmen Kaspar Schwarz and Kaspar Obermayr and now boasts a curiosity.

In the so-called Crocodile Passage, there is a stuffed crocodile hanging from the ceiling. Whether the crocodile was killed by Kaspar Obermayr, the owner of the house at the time, on a trip to Egypt and the proud booty was taken back to Freistadt by him, or whether the crocodile merely escaped from a travelling circus stationed in Freistadt, is still a matter of debate today.
