The Johannesweg, shaped like a lily (the symbol of light), winds its way for about 84 kilometers through the beautiful rolling hills of the Mühlviertler Alm region. Along the way, you’ll encounter ancient traditions, touching stories, and places of great spiritual power.
After arriving in Mönchdorf, we’ll take you to the starting point of the Johannesweg trail in Pierbach. You can park your car for free in our parking lot for the duration of your stay.
You’ll then hike toward St. Leonhard b. Fr., where you’ll be picked up again in the evening. Dinner will be served at Gasthof Rameder, and your room will already be waiting for you.
Stage 2: St. Leonhard – Silberberg (approx. 20 km)
The next morning, you’ll be taken to the pickup point and hike from there to Weitersfelden. After a varied day of hiking, we’ll pick you up from Weitersfelden. Dinner at Gasthof Rameder.
Stage 3: Silberberg – Königswiesen (approx. 20 km)
You’ll start the third stage in Weitersfelden and hike via the pilgrimage site of Kaltenberg to Königswiesen, from where we’ll take you back to Mönchdorf.
Stage 4: Königswiesen – Pierbach (approx. 19 km)
On the fourth and final stage, you’ll hike from Königswiesen past the beautifully restored Ruttenstein Castle ruins to Pierbach, from where we’ll take you back to Mönchdorf.

Stage 1: Pierbach – approx. St. Leonhard (approx. 25 km)
After arriving in Mönchdorf, we’ll take you to the starting point of the Johannesweg in
Pierbach. You can park your car for free in our parking lot for the duration of your stay
for the duration of your stay. You’ll then hike toward St. Leonhard b. Fr., where you’ll be picked up again in the evening. Dinner will be served at Gasthof Rameder, and your room will already be waiting for you.
Stage 2: St. Leonhard – Weitersfelden (approx. 20 km)
The next morning, you’ll be taken to the pickup point and hike from there to Weitersfelden. After a varied day of hiking, we’ll pick you up from Weitersfelden.
Stage 3: Weitersfelden – Königswiesen (approx. 25 km)
From Weitersfelden, you’ll hike through the pilgrimage site of Kaltenberg and via Unterweißenbach
to Königswiesen, from where we’ll take you back to Mönchdorf.
Stage 4: Königswiesen – Pierbach (approx. 15 km)
On the fourth and final stage, you’ll hike from Königswiesen via the beautifully restored Ruttenstein castle ruins to Pierbach, from where we’ll take you back to Mönchdorf.
