Is there an obligation to use myVisitPass?

There is no obligation to use myVisitPass. However, registration when entering a pub, restaurant or leisure facility has been obligatory in Austria since 19 May.

So you can also register in the establishment or at an event by hand-writing your contact details in the respective registration form. However, in the interest of pandemic control and faster processing, we strongly recommend using myVisitPass.

 

Does the use of myVisitPass cost anything?

No. The use of myVisitPass is free of charge. 

 

Can I find myVisitPass in the app store?

myVisitPass is a so-called progressive web app. This means it is not listed in the App Store and must be accessed via myvisit-pass.com/ooe.

 

Data protection is important to me. Who has access to my data in myVisitPass when I "check in" at a restaurant or event?

You don't have to worry about your data with myVisitPass. All information is stored encrypted in this system. This means that the establishment where you are dining out, for example, does NOT have access to your data. The encrypted data will only be forwarded to the competent health authority (district administration or magistrate) upon request if there is a concrete cause (suspicion). After 28 days, the data is automatically deleted.

 

What do I need, for example, to register when visiting a restaurant?

You only need your smartphone to register with myVisitPass. If you do not have a smartphone or do not want to register via myVisitPass, you can ask the restaurant owner or staff to register you. They will be happy to take your contact details (name, phone number).

 

How do I register via myVisitPass, e.g. in a restaurant?

There are several ways to do this:

  • Option 1: 
    Scan the QR code posted in the establishment with your smartphone. With newer smartphones and iPhones, simply open the camera app and point the camera at the QR code with a steady hand. The smartphone will normally recognise it automatically. Then enter your contact details in the next step.
  • Option 2: 
    Open the following website in your smartphone's browser: myvisit-pass.com/ooe . Enter your contact details and then scan the QR code of the establishment.
  • Option 3: 
    Ask a member of staff at the establishment if they can take your details.


Depending on the option chosen, you then simply follow the instructions on the smartphone. After one minute, the job is done.

How do I bookmark myVisitPass on the home screen of my smartphone?

Apple (Safari)

  1. Press the share button (small square with the arrow pointing upwards).
  2. Scroll down the menu.
  3. Select the option Go to Home Screen (small square with a plus sign).
  4. Select an appropriate title.
  5. The icon for myVisitPass is automatically placed in a free space on the home screen.


Android (Chrome)

  1. Tap the three dots in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Select the option Add to Home Screen.
  3. Click on Add.
  4. The myVisitPass icon is automatically placed in a free space on the home screen.


Samsung (Samsung Internet)

  1. Press the three dashes at the bottom right.
  2. Select the Add page.
  3. Select the Home screen.
  4. Press Add.
  5. The myVisitPass icon is automatically placed in a free space on the Home screen.


When I add myVisitPass to my Home screen, the data I entered earlier disappears again. Why is this?

This problem specifically affects iPhones. Unfortunately, the data in myVisitPass is not transferred when you save it to the Home screen and you have to enter it again. Afterwards, however, the data remains saved. 

 

What do I have to do when I leave the location again?

To do this, open the myVisitPass app again and tap on "Leave location now". If you forget to do this, the establishment will check you out after you leave the location.

 

Unfortunately, my regular pub does not offer the option to check in via myVisitPass. What can I do?

The use of myVisitPass is voluntary for Upper Austrian establishments. However, as a regular guest you are welcome to draw the owner's attention to the free myVisitPass system, provided the establishment does not use another digital system for guest registration.

 

Why should I use digital guest registration?

Digital registration helps to facilitate contact tracing. This can help contain the spread of the Corona virus.
