Ursprungskapelle und Augenbründl

The original chapel and the Augenbründl are located directly on the Johannesweg trail and on the numerous circular hiking trails in Kaltenberg. Here you can experience a piece of history and myth during your hike in the Mühlviertel in Upper Austria.

Augenbründel
Spring water that is said to have a healing effect: it springs from the Augenbründl spring in the immediate vicinity of Kaltenberg. Moistening the eyes with the healing water has always been said to have a soothing effect.
The water can also be used as drinking water.

Original chapel
The original chapel is located where the Virgin Mary is said to have once appeared. A wayside shrine and a large lime tree in the immediate vicinity of Kaltenberg are reminders of this. An image of the Mother of God was once attached to the lime tree, which was then moved to the Kaltenberg church.
