Obertraun at the foot of the Dachstein Krippenstein is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut. Nestled among the imposing mountains, on the shores of Lake Hallstatt, this small town is the ideal starting point for many activities, such as hiking, mountaineering, biking, swimming, pleasure biking, visiting the many sights, or simply relaxing and finding happiness.
TheDachstein Krippenstein cable car takes you in a panoramic gondola to the fascinating Dachstein Giant Ice Cave and the enormous Mammoth Cave or further over the Krippenstein to the Dachstein plateau. The 5fingers viewing platform offers a fantastic view. A little higher still is the World Heritage Spiral, from where you can overlook the mountains of the Holiday Region Dachstein Salzkammergut.
You can safely enjoy the mountain world on the Heilbronn circular hiking trail on a three-hour hike. But also more demanding tours are well marked and are waiting to be discovered by you. As part of the Obertraun Mountain Moments, you can also take part in guided tours. A special highlight are also the sunrise and full moon rides up the Dachstein Krippenstein. Unique views are guaranteed.
