Dr. Ralf Gaffga Opening remarks by the guests of honor Official opening of the South American exhibit A modern animal habitat has been created in a central area of the zoo grounds, combining ecological responsibility with innovative visitor management and offering our animals a home that closely resembles their natural habitat: An integrated indoor swimming pond and an outdoor enclosure spanning approximately 1,000 m² with its own waterfall provide the animals with a species-appropriate retreat amidst natural thickets. For our visitors, we have blended architecture and nature. Spacious glass facades and a walk-through tunnel provide unique views of both the indoor spaces and the outdoor area. This proximity allows us to convey complex ecological relationships and the importance of species conservation to our visitors in an even more vivid way.
