He will celebrate his retirement in 2027, making him the longest-serving music director in the orchestra's history. He returns one last time with 'his' orchestra for a special concert at the Brucknerfest Linz on the 130th anniversary of Anton Bruckner's death. he concert will begin with Wolfgang Amadé Mozart's 34th Symphony, the last that he completed as a court musician in Salzburg in 1780 and whose premiere he presented in Vienna a year later, finally released from his unloved service. This is followed by a work by the Lower Austrian composer Bernd Richard Deutsch: *Intensity* , written in 2020 for the Cleveland Orchestra, oscillates between overwhelming extravagance and introspective intensity, similar to Richard Strauss' hugely scored *Symphonia domestica*.
