That is exactly what this special evening at the Gmunden City Theater has in store for you. Johannes Silberschneider, one of the great voices and faces of Austrian theater and film, will guide you through the evening with his unique artistry of speech. He is known for his tremendous versatility and depth—whether on stage, in film (including “Mahler auf der Couch,” “Jud Süß,” and “Niemandsland”), or on television (“Soko Donau” and “Tatort”). With his warm, distinctive voice, he lends the Advent texts by Selma Lagerlöf, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Peter Rosegger, Theodor Storm, and others a new intensity—sensitive, evocative, and full of poetry. He is accompanied by young, highly talented musicians from the Gmunden State Music School. With sensitive arrangements and delicate timbres, they weave music and words into a poetic whole—at times quiet and dreamy, at other times filled with quiet joy. This Advent reading is not a loud Christmas show. It is an invitation to pause and reflect, an evening for the heart and soul—and a touching prelude to the festive season.
