There, the steep trail no. 614 branches off to the right - this is where the challenging ascent to the Great Pyhrgas begins.The path becomes increasingly stony, the terrain more alpine. The landscape opens up more and more with every meter of ascent until you finally reach the flatter summit meadow and the striking summit cross of the Great Pyhrgas (2,244 m) comes into view. The view stretches from the Gesäuse to the Dachstein - a place to marvel and pause for a moment. The descent follows the same route back to the Hofalmsattel.A short detour to the Hofalm is worthwhile - ideal for celebrating the summit victory with a well-earned snack.
