Steep paths, forests, and a gorge make for an exciting experience here. **Quality of experience:** **** **Recommended season:** - May - June - July - August - September - October - November **Properties:** - Loop - Insider tip - Summit route **Description:** There are several options to start, one of which is directly under the state road at the Dammweg. First, you go into the Jainzen district and then continue upwards on very runnable forest roads. You follow the signs towards Saihersbachalm through the forest. At this point, it becomes steeper for the first time, and you pass a non-operational alpine meadow over an open area. The path then turns further into a forest, where most will likely switch to a power hike. The terrain becomes increasingly steep, and eventually, you have to climb a short steep section with a rope, which must be approached cautiously under wet conditions. Over the last bends, you reach the summit plateau of the Gspranggupf. The next section is a dream for trail runners! Gently hilly and ultra flowy, you traverse back and forth between tree trunks, up and down, continuing along the ridge on the single trail towards Bad Ischl. But not so fast! Before finally heading back via numerous hairpin bends, ambitious runners can take a significant "detour" over the Leonsberg, which should not be underestimated and is suited for locals. We now follow the steep path further down, which is partly equipped with short ropes, pins, and steps. Concentration is required here, but it is also a lot of fun! You reach the Zimmnitzbach, fed by steep waters that converge here. The terrain invites you to gently run out after your thighs have been well challenged on the downhill! Via marked hiking trails, you return to the Dammweg and finally back to the starting point. **Directions:** From Jainzen towards Saihersbachalm, then follow the path to the Gspranggupf. Continue on the hiking trail as described towards Bad Ischl to descend, and at the Zimmnitzbach take the turn-off to the Dammweg.**Tip:** Also good in warm summer weather, as it's almost entirely in the shade and there are comparatively cooler temperatures along the Zimmnitzbach, especially in the rear part of the downhill.**Safety guidelines:** Surefootedness and familiarity with steep terrain required!
