After 3.5 km on the Langbathsee district road, you reach the turn-off for the "Sonnsteinstraße" at the former "Bachhütte" (a former forestry hut whose name is still on some maps), which leads steeply uphill in hairpin bends to the right over the Langbathbach stream. Keep left at the second junction and, after travelling parallel to the contour line, you will reach the Farnaustube. After a short climb, you reach the municipal border between Ebensee and Traunkirchen, which you cross through a gate in a game reserve. You cycle around the slopes of the Farnaugupf in an energy-sapping downhill - uphill section until you reach the highest point of the tour (1,040 m) between the Burgstein and the Lärl-Kogel after a long climb. After a steep descent, turn left onto a hiking trail and walk for approx. 5 minutes through a young spruce forest to the Hochsteinalm, where you can take a break. Then head north-west along the alpine pastures until you reach a junction, which you leave in the direction of "Windlegern". Past the signpost "Kreh, Langbathsee", after approx. 1.5 km, an old, difficult to negotiate track (it is better to push the bike here) leads down to the Windlegern inn. The route continues downhill on tarmac roads to Traunkirchen and along the Salzkammergut main road B-145 back to the starting point.
