Ternberg over trails, forest roads, and asphalt through the Bäckengraben **Quality of experience:** ** **Recommended season:** - January - February - March - April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November - December **Properties:** - Loop **Description:** Varied over trails, forest roads, and asphalt through the Bäckengraben, alongside the stream, uphill and downhill with a beautiful view over Ternberg towards the end of the route. **Directions:** From Bhf. Ternberg, turn left towards Lagerhaus onto the sidewalk, cross an intersection, and cross the bridge. Immediately after the bridge, turn left down the hiking trail – the path leads uphill and downhill along the stream to the dog training ground. From there, pass by and follow the hiking trail uphill to the right over a forest road. At the end of the forest road, turn left onto the street (shoulder walkable) and stay on it for about 900 meters to an intersection, then turn right (marked dead end) and remain on the street up to the signpost of the flight school. Follow the signpost towards the flight school, pass the flight school (yellow farmhouse on the left), go straight uphill until just before the next house. Here, turn left up a meadow path to the flight school’s wind funnel and continue on the path to the next farmhouse. Turn right onto the street and ascend the short section up to the street. Turn right and follow the street towards Herndleck until after a long left curve after a farmhouse, turn left onto a meadow path (pasture gate) and descend to the street at the intersection, go right downhill and in the right curve turn left across the meadow along a row of trees to the next section of street – continue to the intersection, here do not turn but cross and descend via the hiking trail. From here, you can already see the railway crossing to the station. Walk there and cross the tracks at the railway crossing, then turn left to the station. **Tip:** Great view over Ternberg towards the end of the route **Safety guidelines:** At the beginning of the route, the trail path is somewhat slippery when wet At certain times, cattle pastures may have to be crossed – pay attention to [proper behavior](https://www.steyr-nationalpark.at/aktivitaeten/sommer/wandern/sichere-almen.html)! **Equipment:** The required equipment always depends on the respective route and weather conditions. Regarding food: this is very individual, and it is advisable to bring more rather than less equipment and food. A 5 km route in the valley requires less than a demanding route in the mountains. The weather can change quickly, and if you are not constantly moving or have to take a break, warming clothing is very important, for example. We have a general checklist here for you: - Weather-appropriate running clothes for the respective season – weather forecast – region – altitude. These include, among others: \\* a waterproof rain jacket \\* waterproof rain pants suitable for running \\* gloves and warm headwear (cap/headband/neck gaiter) \\* sunglasses + sunscreen + headwear for very warm days - Trail running shoes - Water bottles, softflasks, or a hydration bladder with sufficient fluid for the respective route (possibly also salt tablets/magnesium) - Snacks for an energy boost in between: energy bars, gels, chocolate, trail mix, - Running backpack: ideally a trail running vest / a trail running backpack or a waist belt for short routes. - Drypack: to keep your valuables or change of clothes dry (optionally a small trash bag) - Emergency blanket - Small first aid kit. In my opinion, an Israeli bandage is highly recommended: it is a one-handed wound and pressure dressing. Jahrundert existierte, weil in der Schenkungsurkunde Otakars II. an das Stift Garsten, eine St. Veits-Kirche zu Ternberg erwähnt wird. Im Jahr 1557 wurde die Kirche zu ihrer jetzigen Höhe ausgebaut. Der Turm stammt aus dem Jahr 1752. Der Hochaltar ist von 1688 vom Bildhauer Marian Rittinger. Die Innenrenovierung der Kirche wurde gestaltet vom Künstler Leo Zogmayer.
