In front of the Staudinger guesthouse (near the Landeroith inn) turn right again onto Weyregg road, which you follow 350 m to the right to the Hemetsberger nursery. There, turn left onto the **Plötzingerweg**. At a power line, the Brandsteig begins on the left, the signed hiking trail (No. 5) up the Gahberg. It winds through forest slopes and beside meadows around the Brandner farm up to the ridge of the **Gahberg** (864 m). Wonderful view over the Attersee to the Schafberg! Right to a farm and on the asphalt access road to the nearby Gahberg road, which you follow left over the whole ridge. After a forest section, you pass the observatory and the shingle-clad Gahberg chapel at Hintergahberg. Shortly after, turn left onto the signed hiking trail to Kreuzingalm. It leads above it (a short, worthwhile detour) further over the ridge to Schickermahd. About 3 km after the alm, you cross the wooded **Alpenberg** (973 m) and after a short descent reach a fork where a Marian image recalls a bombing raid in 1945. Straight ahead you continue over the ridge (signposted "Hongar") to the **Almgasthof Schwarz** (884 m). 4:00 h Back over the forest ridge to the mentioned fork with the Marian image. Now right following the signposts "Looh, Halbmoos" downhill and on rutted forest roads (No. 6) through the wooded north side of the Alpenberg to the idyllic **Loitzenwiese** (724 m, hunting lodge). There you turn left and cross on forest road No. 3 the forest ridge of the **Schörflinger Trattberg** (702 m) to the **village Erlath** (500 m) on the Sickingbach, where you can refresh yourself on the right at the country inn Schneiderwirt. Left on the asphalted Sickinger street down the valley, past the fire department and the renovated Poinerhaus. From the next junction turn right on Bachbauern and subsequently Marktwalder street over a wooded saddle (560 m). Where you reach open meadows again, turn left to the Waldvilla. There turn right onto Karl-Hausjell-Allee. Over a bridge crossing the bypass road and on to **Kammer-Schörfling** (514 m). Right over the Ager bridge and left to **Seewalchen am Attersee** (472 m). 3:30 h **Tip:** **Note**: Bus connection (line 562) from Weyregg via Kammer to Seewalchen – North route; www.atterseeschifffahrt.at **Safety guidelines:** - In alpine terrain, be aware of the danger of falling rocks. - Through early summer, you may encounter steep snowfields or firn gullies – especially during icy conditions, there is an acute risk of falling and thus fatal injury! - Due to storm damage, forestry work or construction work, individual trail sections may be difficult or impassable at times. - Cows in the alpine meadows are often curious. Because they are nursing mothers, they develop a strong tendency to protect their calves. Therefore, move through cow pastures quietly, keep at least 20 metres of distance to the animals and never pet calves! In the case of threatening behaviour (pawing, stamping) slowly back away (do not turn your back). Keep dogs on a leash. They must not bark at or chase cows. In the case of an attack, the dog must be released from the leash. **Equipment:** For all stages, you will need hiking or mountain boots with treaded rubber soles as well as wind- and rainproof clothing. A change of clothes and a small first-aid kit should also be included in your backpack. The amount of provisions you should pack depends on the number of available rest stops. In any case, you should always take along plenty to drink.
