There, around the massive rock block of the **Großer Priel** (2,515 m), the mighty **Schermberg** (2,396 m) and the pointed **Temlberg** (2,331 m), this huge mountain group really seems dead. Nevertheless, the path there passes through one of the most beautiful landscape scenes of the Salzkammergut – and, hard to believe, also through lush greenery. **Directions:** From Gößl you hike, as in stage 20, on path no. 214 up to the **Vordere Lahngangsee** (1,494 m) and further to the wooden huts in the **Elmgrube** (1,622 m). 2:45h There, however, you follow the sign "To the Pühringerhütte" to the right and climb through wooded karst slopes on the partly stone-piled track of the Ausseerweg. Between the **Hochkogel** (2,091 m) and the rugged rock base of the **Elm** (2,128 m) you pass the Small and Large Windloch in ups and downs – icy cold air flows upward from these two doline shafts. On "Emil's Tear Hill" you see the nearby **Pühringerhütte** (1,638 m) for the first time. The cozy alpine club hut stands directly above the shore of the small Elmsee. 45 minutes **Tip:** **Summit detour** to the Rotgschirr (2,261 m) **Safety guidelines:** - In alpine terrain, be aware of the danger of falling rocks. - Until early summer, you may encounter steep snowfields or firn rills there – especially in case of icing, there is acute danger of falling and thus life-threatening! - Due to storm damage, forestry work or construction measures, individual sections of the path may be temporarily difficult or even impossible to pass. - Cows on the alpine pasture are often curious. Due to mother cow husbandry, they develop a strong instinct to protect their calves. So move calmly on cow pastures, keep at least 20 meters distance from the animals and never pet calves! In case of threatening behavior (scratching, stamping) slowly walk backwards (do not turn your back). Keep dogs on a leash, they are not allowed to bark at or chase cows. In case of an attack, you must absolutely release them from the leash. **Equipment:** For all stages you need hiking or mountain boots with rugged rubber soles as well as wind- and waterproof clothing. Spare clothes for changing and a small first aid kit should also be in the backpack. How much provisions you pack depends on the number of places to eat. In any case, you should take enough to drink.
