Once you have reached the summit, there can hardly be a more beautiful view - from the Dachstein, over the Totes Gebirge, the high Nock and the Warscheneck. The Schrocken is an absolute highlight in the hiking diary, but should by no means be underestimated! The Hinterstoder cable cars take you comfortably from the valley up to the Hutterer Höss (1,827 m). The destination is already visible from there. Following hiking trails 40 and 41, the trail leads past the famous "Schafkogelsee" photo motif through the alpine pasture area to the Schafkogel. Continue on trail no. 217 in the direction of Schrocken. With the Schrocken summit right in front of your eyes, the path leads over soft alpine pastures to the ridge, which can be seen from afar. A few exposed sections require overcoming and surefootedness. However, the tricky passages are secured with ropes and chains and offer a secure foothold. The trail then climbs steadily to the summit.One summit is not enough? From the Schrocken it is not far to the Kreuzspitze (2,327 m) and the Hochmölbing (2,336 m). The way back is along the same route. How difficult is it? Sure-footedness and a head for heights are an absolute must. We only recommend a hike with really sure-footed, experienced children aged 12 and over.
