The salt road round partly runs on the historical salt road. **Quality of experience:** **** **Recommended season:** - March - April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November **Properties:** - Loop - Scenic - Refreshment stops available - Family friendly - Cultural/historical value **Description:** The path was laid out on the steep Danube slopes so that it could partly be operated as a "one-way system" and was dug into the terrain. The depth was about 2.5 m, the ditch bottom 1.5 m, so that the path at the upper edge of the embankment was about 5 m wide. This had the advantage that the paths were hardly visible so that travelers, muleteers (merchants) and trade transports were protected from street robbers as well as wild animals as unseen and undisturbed as possible. They also offered protection against falling and toppled trees. Trees lying across hollow paths could be passed under after removing some branches. Route: Hofkirchen i.
