First, you go gently uphill through the pasture land of the **Postalm** and then rather comfortably downhill through forest slopes. The route is garnished with a few rocky sections and views of rugged mountains. And at the end, a walk through a valuable moor biotope at Wolfgangsee awaits you. **Directions:** From the Huberhütte on the western edge of the **Postalm**, you hike on trail no. 840 and under a lift to parking lot 3 at the upper end of the Postalm toll road. From there, a short detour to the historic Postalm hut next to its small chapel is worthwhile. It dates back to 1853 and belonged at that time to the postmaster from Bad Ischl – thus the name was finally transferred to the entire alpine area. The path to Wolfgangsee leads to the left on an alpine road marked no. 877 to the **Wiesleralms** (1,361 m) in the northern area of the Postalm. Between Wiesler and Schafbergblick huts, you walk about 350 m on the road branching off to the right in direction of **Thoralm**. Then the hiking trail no. 877 with the sign “Niedergadenalm – Strobl” leads uphill left through the meadow slope to the **Thoralmsattel** (1,492 m). To the right, you now hike on path no. 877 through steep, rocky forest slopes to the Bleckwand southeast ridge (gate) and left down to Schartenalm (1,051 m). To the left of it rises the **Bleckwand** (1,516 m) with its rocky east side, and to the right the much more rugged Sparber (1,502 m). Further on path no. 877 and briefly also on the gravel alpine road down to Gasthof Mahdhäusl (620 m). On the access road, you reach the heavily trafficked federal road (bus stop on the left), which leads over a bridge on the right; below it can be crossed beside a small brook, but only at low water flow. Beyond stands the historic Lipphaus, which houses the worth-seeing Aberseer Heimathaus. Following the sign “Bahndammweg”, you now stroll on a level meadow path beside a chapel to Wolfgangsee. After 10 minutes, you cross the Bahndammweg (the former route of the Salzkammergut railway). Immediately after, you turn right onto the marked lakeside path (straight ahead is a detour to Gschmå Platzl on the shore – view to **St. Wolfgang**). Through a birch avenue and the Blinklingmoos nature reserve, you arrive at Fellmayerbad. Shortly thereafter, turn left and pass through Moosgasse into the center of Strobl (542 m) with the tourism office. 2:00 h **Tip:** **Summit detour:** To the right rises the Thorhöhe (1,533 m), which drops very steeply on the north side (40 minutes return). **Summit detour:** to the Bleckwand (1,516 m) – see route G5, page 248 **Safety guidelines:** - In alpine terrain, be aware of the danger of falling rocks. - Until early summer, you can encounter steep snowfields or firn runs – especially when icy, there is acute risk of falling and thus danger to life! - Due to storm damage, forestry work, or construction measures, individual path sections may temporarily be difficult or impossible to pass. - Cows on the alp are often curious. Due to raisings with mother cows, they develop a strong instinct to protect their calves. Move calmly on cow pastures, keep at least 20 m distance from the animals, and do not pet calves! With threatening gestures (scratching, stamping), walk backwards slowly (do not turn your back). Dogs must be on a leash; they must not bark at or chase cows. In case of an attack, you must definitely release the dog from the leash. **Equipment:** For all stages you need hiking or mountain boots with profiled rubber soles as well as wind- and waterproof clothing. Reserve clothing for changing and a small emergency first-aid kit should also be in your backpack. How much provisions you pack depends on the number of catering options. In any case, you should take enough to drink.
