Hiking trail: 12, E90, E97, 467 **Variation**: Large horseshoe from Gasthaus Schachner in Dambach to Rumplhöhe, then to Sonnberg and over Schwarzberg toward Damberg to the Dambergwarte (807 m) and back along the ridge via the Rennweg down to Windloch and to the starting point. **Directions:** The hike begins at Gasthof Eckhard on the Eisenbundesstraße B115. Between the gas station and a residential house, the path leads to the Mayr farm in Dambach. There, a forest road merges into the asphalt road. We follow this for a short distance. The Alpenverein trail no. 12 begins here, leading us up the Damberg ridge. After just under an hour, we reach the **Windloch**. A natural cave about which legend says it has a connection under the Enns to the former Garsten monastery. Following the Rennweg on Damberg, we reach after about 45 minutes the 36 m high **Dambergwarte**. It offers a wonderful panoramic view. From the lookout, we then hike down the north slope on ÖAV trail 467 to the forest road, where we turn left to the **Laurenzikapelle**, built in 1864. Here the Bible path begins, which we follow back to Gasthof Schoiber. From there, the path continues briefly on Dambergstraße to Kreuzleite, where a forest road branches off to the left. This winds along halfway up Damberg and brings us back to our parking spot. **Variations**: Drive up to Gasthof Schoiber and from there there are various circular hiking options at Damberg. **Large Horseshoe Variation**: From Gasthaus Schachner via a short climb to Kammergraberstraße to Danzbergergut, then left over the meadow path to Buchbergstraße. Continue via Reithuberstraße, Sturzberg to Rumplhöhe and Sonnberg (777 m). Over Schwarzberg (838 m) then below Braschenberg toward Damberg (807 m) to the lookout with magnificent panoramic views. Return along the ridge via Rennweg down to Windloch. A natural cave about which legend says it has a connection under the Enns to the former Garsten monastery. From Windloch, it's not far back to the starting point. **Tip:** The numerous steps up to the Dambergwarte are rewarded with a magnificent view of the town of Steyr, into the Ramingtal and neighboring Lower Austria, the Ennstal, and the Kalkalpen National Park. Der Damberg, 811 Meter, und 504 Meter über Steyr, ist der Glanzpunkt der ganzen Umgebung. Man trifft wenige Aussichtspunkte, die, mit so wenig Mühe erreichbar, dem Wanderer so reichen Lohn gewähren. Der langestreckte Rücken des Dambergs hat eine südwestlich-nordöstliche Richtung; an dem höchsten Punkt desselben hat die Section Steyr des Deutschen und Oesterreichischen Alpenvereins 1869 eine 21 Meter hohe hölzerne Warte erbaut, welche es ermöglicht, nach allen Seiten eine freie Aussicht zu genießen. Das herrliche Gebirgspanorama im Osten, Süden und Westen umfasst die nördlichen Kalkalpen vom Schneeberg bis zum Staufen bei Reichenhall. Ein Großteil des oberösterreichischen Hügellands mit Linz, Enns, Kremsmünster, St. Florian, Mauthausen und vielen anderen Ortschaften, das Donauthal bis Maria Taferl liegt vor dem Beschauer ausgebreitet!
