Closed: Good Friday, May 1, Corpus Christi, All Saints Day, Dec 24, 25, 31; free Obernzell tours in the season every Fri at 10 am, meeting point castle. **Convent of the Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer**, Danube ferry Obernzell, historic townscape, Nepomuk fountain, castle garden, Danube riverside promenade, **double-towered Rococo parish church** **Untergriesbach:** Baroque parish church St. Michael, old painted columns and wayside crosses, rest area with display panels about the former cog railway and torrent regulation, marketplace with pillory, Nepomuk fountain, ensemble of citizen and farmhouses **SPIRITUAL HIKING ON THE DONAUSTEIG:** St. Michael’s Church, Untergriesbach (The Archangel Michael stands for protection, liberation, and justice). In Obernzell is the convent of the Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer. History: In 1916 a separate religious order community was founded in Pressburg, to which the "Obernzell Sisters" belong. The sisters came to Lower Bavaria in 1919. They dedicated themselves to outpatient nursing and child care in the children's home. In 1945 the sisters worked in the hospital for wounded soldiers and refugees. From this arose the first nursing and care home in Obernzell, which has been continuously modernized and is still cared for by them today. In 1973, the order’s leaders opened the first private nursing school in Lower Bavaria. **On the Zeller Donausteigrunde I reflect on the message of the Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer:** All people should receive attentive and loving care in every situation of life. **Directions:** We begin our hike in Obernzell at the Donausteig starting point by the water feature at the castle and then turn left towards the elementary school. There we meet the Donausteig, which we follow for a while. At the convent, we turn right and walk through the forest. After Hammermühle, we turn right and follow the course of the Hofleitenbach. From there, we reach Untergriesbach. We cross the marketplace and turn right into Pilslgasse.
