The 5th edition (1929) of the "Guide to the Bohemian Forest" describes the course of the ridge trail from west to east: Schwarzkoppe - Tannaberg - Gewintzy - Osser - Eisenstein - Stubenbach - Pürstling - Lusen - Kurschada - Dreisessel - Glöcklberg - Untermoldau - Friedberg - Hohenfurth - Rosenberg. The original Nordwaldkammweg trail therefore started in Rosenberg/Rozmberk on the Vltava. Reason enough to route variant III via the old starting point. The 40 km long variant III of the North Forest Ridge Trail branches off from the North Forest Ridge Trail II north-east of Zettwing/Cetviny near Sinetschlag/Dolní Příbraní, runs north of it and rejoins variant II south of Hohenfurt/Vyssi brod near Frauenthal/Frantoly. The trail leads through the green belt, is marked with Czech signs and the addition NWKW III The use of GPS data or maps freely downloadable from the **[Alpine Club](http://www.alpenverein-freistadt.at/nwkw.htm)** is recommended.
