From the Green Belt Centre on the market square, we walk past the former Anton Bruckner School towards Pieberschlag. We reach the log cabin and the sacrificial stone via the Pieberschlägerberg viewpoint. We descend steeply through the forest to the so-called "Bienenbaum" and to Mardetschlag. We walk along the L1 hiking trail to Hammern and cross the state border to the Czech Republic at Lexmühle. From there we come to Zettwing and the medieval church. The trail leads along the Maltsch river over the "Stone Bridge" to Mairspindt. Via the Hofwieshammer open-air museum, we reach the market square in Windhaag near Freistadt. Visit the European Green Belt Information Centre in the centre of Windhaag with an interesting exhibition on the nature, history and future of the Green Belt. It is also the starting point for educational programmes.
