Please follow the new signposting! Thank you for your understanding! The Hammerleitenweg leads through the north of Freistadt and is easy to hike. This family-friendly hiking trail leads from the promenade along the Frauenteich pond and the medieval town wall to the "Knödelhütte", where you can immerse yourself in the romantic Thurytal valley. The restored blacksmith's hammer, where you can experience a forging demonstration if you book in advance, is a "heated" highlight where not only the blacksmith can work up a sweat. A short distance upstream, the Feldaist invites you to cool off. The trail leads past the ruins of the 3rd Thuryhammer and the legendary Teufelsfelsen rock. Along the Helbetschlägerstraße, via the village of Neumühle, you reach the village of Vierzehn. After crossing the B310, you reach the so-called Bockau. At a forest road junction, turn right to the Stadtberghöhe and a few hundred metres downhill you reach the edge of the forest, where the medieval brewery town lies magnificently at the hiker's feet.
