Beautifully exposed via ferrata at the northern wall of the Dachstein Krippenstein ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Overview** - approach 20 min - Himmeleck to the Chamois | A | 600 climbing meters - Chamois to 5 Fingers | B/C | 350 climbing meters - Westernpillar | E | 850 Klettermeter **Dachstein Chamois | B | 950 Climbin meters:** Beautiful easy aline Tour, however not suitable for beginners. Coming from the entrance **"Himmeleck"** at the east side of the Krippenstein, the via ferrata goes north to the **"Chamois"** (sculpture) From the "Gams" climbers have two possibilities, either back along the same track to the "Himmeleck" or farther on to the **[5fingers viewing platform](https://dachstein.salzkammergut.at/en/oesterreich-poi/detail/201659/5fingers-viewing-platform.html)**. This ascend however has two passages which are rated C on the via ferrata scale. **Northern wall | E | 850 climbing meters:** This via ferrata has the **highest difficulty**, coming from the **"Gams"** first the climbers have to descend, then traverse about 450 meters direction west through the northern wall of the Dachstein Krippenstein. The last part is another 400m climb, starting with an overhanging part which is graded E, slightly traversing the climbers pass beautiful, solid rock faces direction west. **For climbing this via ferrata, it is essential to have equipment as listed below:** - climbin harnice and climbing gear - climbing helmet - first aid set - climbing shoes (northern wall) - resting sling (in case of exhausion) **Liability:** The **builder (Outdoor Leadership/Helmut Putz)**, the **owner (DachsteinTourismus AG)**, the **property owner (Austrian Federal Forests)**, assume **no liability for the safety and condition of the via ferrata facility** and its use. Any ascent is voluntary and requires adequate planning, self-assessment, preparation, training and physical and mental fitness. This via ferrata is NOT a beginner's route, but a demanding via ferrata route with all the alpine dangers present in the mountains.
