The long, but with the exception of the Ziehberg, flat tour begins with a gentle ascent to Krühub. With views of the foothills of the Alps, you then roll to Wartberg and on through the floodplain and small farming villages to the foot of the Ziehberg, which is reminiscent of a real mountain pass road with its hairpin bends and views of the Krems Valley. After a long, flat descent, you reach Scharnstein and thus the Almtal valley - a marvellously secluded idyll from Grünau onwards. The route of the Almsee individual time trial takes you along crystal-clear streams and through protected moorland to the end of the valley, where the Almsee lake, surrounded by the limestone walls of the Totes Gebirge, shimmers with colour. It is only on the brisk way back that it becomes clear that the 10 kilometres weren't all that long after all. Back in Scharnstein, the route heads north(east)west, slightly undulating through settlements, forests and meadows to Pettenbach and - after crossing the B138 - Wartberg again. The flat route home takes you across the idyllic Kremsauen meadows to Rohr and finally along the cycle path on the former railway line.
