This old mixed deciduous forest in the municipalities of Hohenzell and Ried im Innkreis has always been a valuable and much-visited local recreation area due to its location behind the Ried outdoor pool. The Pfarrerhölzl is a near-natural deciduous forest, which is partly 200 years old and consists mainly of oaks, hornbeams and ash trees. The Pfarrerhölzl has been placed under protection as a "Protected Landscape Area" by the Nature Conservation Department of the Upper Austrian Provincial Government. **Nature trail - a guide through nature** At the beginning of the nature trail at the viaduct in road Schwimmbadstraße you can get information about the course of the trail on a general map. The nature trail offers visitors interested in natural history a closer look at the biology and ecology of the area. Eight information boards have been set up along a circular route, which are intended to sharpen the eye for hidden treasures and whet the appetite for active nature observation. In addition to the documentation "Habitat pond and brook", one also receives information about ornithology and different tree species. **Using the nature trail as a place of learning** The nature trail leads along an easily accessible path past eight information boards, with information about the local flora and fauna. This short but informative hike offers school classes in particular the opportunity to make their lessons more interesting by using the nature trail as a "green classroom".
