Watch out for any changes in the weather - signs include gathering wind, fot and a rise in temperature. Stay up-to-date- with the current situation from the avalanche warning report, e.g. on www.lawinen.at! Heed the avalanche warning lights and signs. Follow the instructions of the ski patrols and emergency services. Never rely on already existing tracks! They are no guarantee for protection from avalanches and may lead in a completely wron direction. For emergencies, save the phone numbers of the lift company (+43 50 140) and the mountain rescue (140) on your mobile phone. Should you end up in a valley without reception, remove the SIM card and call 112! The following tours lead through alpine terrain and may only be negotiated with the proper equipment. During storms or when there is a risk of avalanches, the snowshoe trails are closed! The tour starts right beside the information board at the mountain station. At first, the hike leads along the inns, past the Alpine lodge village ‘Hüttendorf’ heading west. At the valley station of the Heumahdgupf T-bar lift, you‘ll cross the mountain slope (heading south). After a few minutes you‘ll reach the dip between the front and rear Edeltal valley. Further to the south (Helmeskogel sign) the trail gently winds its way along a mountain ridge. After a switch to the left side you‘ll reach a small plain after a a short ascent just below the summit (beautiful viewpoint towards the ski area). Here the snowshoe signposting ends. The summit should only be scaled in good conditions and reliable snow conditions by experienced hikers (partly exposed trail with snowdrifts)!
