Marking: yellow aluminium signs, additional red-white-red tree markings, **0 km** The Hochwaldweg trail begins not far from **Kirchenplatz Peilstein** in Höhenstraße at house no. 3 (first hiking sign), parallel to which you are accompanied by the Weg der Entschleunigung and the Falkensteinerweg trail (long-distance hiking trails). You briefly follow the Höhenstraße, turn left at the kindergarten and cross the Wäschbachl in the hollow. The path on the right leads to the adventure playground. **However, turn left** and then immediately right along the meadow path uphill to the village of Berging. Pass the farmhouse on the left and walk towards the Bühel (small wood) in front of you. Continue walking until you reach the ... **1.1 km Häuslin biotope.** Rare plants feel at home here. A beautifully designed rest area with a drinking water point awaits you. The forest path now becomes steeper. Once you reach the end of the forest, head across the meadow towards the wooden house. Continue left here until you pass the Hemmerau dry biotope shortly afterwards and immediately arrive at a wonderfully peaceful rest area, the ... **2.0 km Hochwaldblick**. The effort of the climb is now rewarded by the magnificent view over the Mühltal ridge to the Bohemian Forest and the ruins of Wittinghausen in the former Sudetenland. *Hans Mühlbauer, born in Oberpeilstein, tells us: In the period between 1945 and 1955, the inhabitants on the Czech side were resettled from the border strip. At the end of the forest, you are offered a beautiful view over the hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel. Walk past the farmstead in front of you and down into the valley, where you cross the Hennerbach stream at the pond.
