On rocky and steep paths, you enter the surprisingly lively world of the "Totes" mountains and look far across the Stodertal valley. **The trail requires surefootedness and a head for heights.** **Be careful in snow and fog!** Due to its length, we recommend an overnight stay in the Prielschutzhaus. **Detailed description** To the Prielschutzhaus (2.5 h): Follow the signs from the Polsterlucke car park for approx. 30 minutes on a forest road towards Polsterlucke, where the actual trail to the Prielschutzhaus begins. Past the Klinser waterfall, the "Gott-sei-Dank-Bankerl" and the Großer and Kleiner Ofen (caves), the wide, well-trodden trail leads in serpentines through the deciduous forest to the Prielschutzhaus (1,420 m). Descend on the same route. On to the Großer Priel (3 h): From the Prielschutzhaus, continue on trail no. 201 and then on trail no. 260 over a rocky ridge up to the Kühkar. On the left (southern) edge of the cirque, head over scree to the flank below the Brotfallscharte. The following rock steps and ledges are secured with steel cables. From the ridge crest, follow the markings 260 (262) on the broad scree ridge towards Großer Priel. Directly above the mighty north face, the trail leads up and down to the 8 m high summit cross. The descent follows the same route (2 h) or ... Descent option: Do not descend into the Kühkar, but follow trail no. 262 to the Fleischbanksattel. From there, head straight on towards Pühringerhütte, then left towards Temlberg and Prielschutzhaus through the flat karst terrain to the south. Then take trail no. 201 to the Klinserscharte and continue between the Spitzmauer and Brotfall through the Klinserschlucht gorge, from the end of which the Prielschutzhaus is once again in sight. You can get to the Polsterlucke car park from there on foot or with the Tälerbus 432. You can also start the hike from Schiederweiher and take the shuttle bus there. This runs every 10 minutes.
