Starting at **the Forest Service office**, the trail first leads through the forest and then up a short iron ladder to **the Steinbachblick viewpoint**. This is followed by a steep ascent along the **Brennerriesensteig trail** to the Höllengebirge. This route is recommended only for experienced hikers.The summit cross is located at an elevation of **1,602 m** and offers an impressive view. After a rest, the trail continues along steep switchbacks to the **Dachsteinblick**, from where the Dachstein can be seen on a clear day. Afterward, you have the option of taking a scenic ridge hike along the **Mahdlschneid** down to **the Schoberstein** and on to **Weißenbach**. Alternatively, the route winds gently up and down toward **the Hochleckenhaus** to the **mountain rescue hut**.
