**"Sweet chestnut forest" nature trail** ---------------------------------------- **Small circular hike in Unterach am Attersee** This forest is unique, as nowhere else north of the Alps do sweet chestnuts reach full maturity. **Highlight:** Power place by the jubilee tree The tour starts in the centre of Unterach: after the Spar supermarket, walk up Kirchengasse, past the kindergarten, turn right along the meadow path up to the main road, which you cross. Then follow the markings in the direction of the "Jubiläumsbaum". Hike along the forest nature trail through the sweet chestnut forest. The destination of this tour is the so-called **Jubilee Tree**. It was planted in 1908 to mark the 60th anniversary of Emperor Franz Josef's reign. After a rest in the shade of the mighty branches, you return to the starting point along the same path.
