description: In the midst of this period of exuberance and artistic splendour, the Kremsmünstererhof stood as a testament to past elegance and prosperity. Its history is linked to Rupert Trinker. This textile merchant was one of the most important traders in Wels. His business activities extended from southern Poland to the southern German trading towns and as far as Naples. Trinker had branches in Venice and Bolzano and was a true trading magnate. In the midst of this period of exuberance and artistic splendour, the Kremsmünstererhof stood as a testament to past elegance and prosperity. Its history is linked to Rupert Trinker. This textile merchant was one of the most important traders in Wels. His business activities extended from southern Poland to the southern German trading towns and as far as Naples. Trinker had branches in Venice and Bolzano and was a true trading magnate. During this time of new beginnings and expansion, he built the Kremsmünstererhof, which today is an impressive example of the combination of Renaissance and Rococo architecture.

Rupert Trinker, a man of visionary foresight, had an arcaded courtyard built that was ahead of its time. This bold decision, a matter of prestige that he could afford, initially proved ambivalent. In summer, the sun was unable to warm the interior of the house, and in winter the arcades were covered in snow. However, as is so often the case in history, the original disadvantage turned into a later advantage. Today, Trinker's arcaded courtyard is a blessing. The once magnificent architecture, which was plagued by snow in winter, now provides protection from the hot summer sun and lends the Kremsmünstererhof a timeless elegance that blends harmoniously into the surrounding Renaissance and Rococo splendour.
