August Meindl had discovered the summit a long time ago. In 1988 he decided to erect a cross on the occasion of his 60th birthday at the summit. "I have not asked for permission for a long time. Mr. Meindl insisted on making his own cross and roof, Hans Wimmer carved the figure of Christ. In our church, the cross was blessed.
