The parish was first mentioned in 1242 and has been administered by the Augustinian Canons of St. Florian since 1580. The church was originally built around 1150 in the Romanesque style. After it was destroyed, it was rebuilt around 1320 as a High Gothic church and expanded around 1400 into a two-nave hall church. Baroque renovations followed in the 18th century. In 1978–79, the interior of the church was redesigned and the altar was moved to the center of the nave. In 2013, the altar area underwent further redesign. The new altar was crafted from a single block of granite by the artist Gabriela Berger and symbolizes St. Martin’s act of sharing. Among the oldest treasures are six late-medieval stained-glass windows dating from between 1380 and 1410, featuring depictions of saints and donors, as well as the baptismal font, created around 1460 from local Plöckingen granite.
