The Kampermauer sports and alpine climbing area offers a large number of well-secured, easy (III - V) and medium to difficult (VI - IX) routes.
With around 200 routes and almost 400 secured rope lengths, the climbing area, which has grown over decades, is one of the best areas in Upper Austria. What is special is the large wall height (up to 240m) with many multi-pitch routes and the associated alpine character. The beginnings of climbing activities go back to the 40s and 50s. Among other things, the Gesäuse locksmith Seitelberger has already left his mark here. A new upswing in climbing activities, with many first ascents, began in the mid-1980s. Werner Osen, Klaus Lehner, Tom Teufel, Hans P. Schreiberhuber, Thomas Rinner, Emmerich Wallerberger, Heli Steinmassl, just to name a few, looked for climbing lines. The developers of the routes have secured the routes with great difficulty. Please note the temporary bird protection restrictions set by the national park in the middle part of the wall.
