Thanks to its dominant position, the striking silhouette of the Sill and the 72 metre high tower, the church can be seen from afar. The parish church, which dates from around 1420 to 1436, faces east and is surrounded by the old cemetery. The two-nave Gothic building is bordered by a massive wall covered with stone slabs. The church is attributed to the "Bürkel type", characterised by a central pillar in the nave. All the stylistic features point to the Burghausen master builder Oswald Bürkel and his cousin Konrad. The interior of the church was superbly remodelled in three phases during the Baroque period. Around 1648, the life-size crucifix, a jewel among the works of art in the church, was created by the Braunau sculptor Martin Zürn. The work is of noble grandeur and poignant inwardness. The spiritual vitality of Martin Zürn's monumental figure should be emphasised. It is one of the most beautiful carvings by the Zürn family. The high altar was erected in 1661 and - also according to Pastor Zauner - belongs to a group of altars by the Mattighofen carpenters Wolf Weiß and Michael Mayr and the painter Wolf Gunzinger. According to another version, the high altar comes from the school of the Zürn brothers. It is richly decorated with baroque cartilage work and furnished with good figures.
