It´s only natural that he dedicated the Church to St. John the Baptist and made it a subsidiary church to the Maltese Order Commanderie of Mailberg, Lower Austria. The monks used to live in a building that is today know as Hunter´s Home. Today´s Inn and the surrounding grounds belonged to the Order. The surrounding southbound woodland is named Pfaffenholz (,Cleric Forest´) and is thought to have been on the Order´s territory as well. The parish of Stroheim was founded in 1784 with not more than three houses surrounding the Church. The residential area of Stroheim comprises the homes sprawling to Landerlkapelle Chapel and Gaisberg. The original village with its three homes is gathered from the house numbers of the Hunter´s Home (1), the Inn (2), and the Smithy (3) that were built just before the parish was founded. The subsequent numbers were given to the vicarage, the school and the corner shop.
