Starhemberg Castle with local history museum - pure culture in the Vitalwelt!
Mentioned for the first time in 1776, the picturesque castle in Haag am Hausruck possesses a wonderful Renaissance courtyard and is also home to the local museum. Which was ceremoniously opened in 1964 and has since enriched the cultural range of the area.
On display here are exhibits from the former lignite mining industry, rural life with tools of extinct craftsmen, as well as the history of the region and the life of the farmers at that time. And you can even learn about the time of the Peasants' Wars and about Emperor Napoleon.
In addition, the museum offers an annual rotating special exhibition. Children, as well as adults, are particularly fascinated by the meticulously recreated rooms in the spacious miniature exhibition.
