In the rear of their houses, in the area of ??today's Freiung, they kept their storage rooms. As it is in the building on Stadtplatz 46, the so-called "Durchhaus" or passage, whose former storage house is today’s event location “Kornspeicher”. Ever since the renovation of 1985, the offer of the arena theater includes modern and avant-garde theater, cabarets, standup comedy, readings, children's theater, preludes, musical education – and every now and then Punch stops by to perform there. The low two-storey building dates back the Renaissance period and belongs to the building on Stadtplatz46. The buildings are still connected by a small, romantic garden. Originally, the “Kornspeicher” was a grain storage, as many Welser residents used to own. Either because the owner was a corn trader or the storage belonged to a farmer whose cornfields were somewhere around town, and whose yield was preserved there. Today the “Kornspeicher” is an event location operated by the City of Wels. It gives the young performing art an opportunity for representation.
