The ravine between the castle rock and the mountainside - replacing the moat - is spanned by a stone bridge and leads to a two-storey gate building. Above the house stone portal are two openings that belonged to the lift mechanism of the drawbridge. The courtyard is enclosed by the elongated four-storey residential wing with a steeply pitched roof and the tower, which has been almost completely demolished and blocked up. In the courtyard itself is a marble fountain. The west side of the castle was secured by a simple wall with turrets in front. This enclosure has been converted into a viewing terrace. In the residential wing is the knights' hall and an armoury. However, the porch housing the chapel is of interest, especially because of the still well-preserved, once feared dungeons. The gate wings are iron-clad, only they are not ordinary iron sheets but flattened armour, as can still be seen today. To secure the entrance, two towers were built on the opposite slope; the lower one is a square tower, popularly called the "powder tower", the upper one is a round tower. A few couples have already exchanged vows at the approximately 1000-year-old castle overlooking the Kremstal valley. Their positive feedback has now been transformed into an attractive offer for brides and grooms under the title “Romantic Castle Wedding,” which can be booked through the website from now on.** The charm of ancient walls providing fairytale photo opportunities, combined with diverse options to tailor the proceedings of the planned wedding to one's own wishes and needs: this is what characterizes the “romantic castle wedding at Castle Altpernstein”! For the various program points of the celebration, there is guaranteed to be the right space at Castle Altpernstein. For example, relaxation zones can be set up for fine dining and conversation while lively dancing takes place next door, or young wedding guests can entertain themselves in the castle’s kids' club with billiards and table tennis. Castle Altpernstein offers wedding couples the choice between a civil, religious, and/or secular wedding. The possibility to stay overnight in one of the 18 double and multi-bed rooms of the castle also ensures a relaxed atmosphere. The absolute highlight is the observation terrace, from which one can overlook the entire Kremstal valley all the way to the mountains. A wedding or agape outdoors also visually symbolizes the couple's departure into a promising and shared future. The already proven kitchen and service team has received much praise from the wedding couples who recently said their “I do” at Castle Altpernstein!
