The prosperity of the market was based on crafts and trade. After the great fire of 1877, many of the magnificent merchant houses were destroyed, but even in our time the wealth can still be felt. Today, the region around Kirchdorf is one of Upper Austria's regions of pleasure. Schlierbach cheese is well-known, but there is much more to discover. Sheep's cheese, chocolate from Bachhalm and must - all produced here - achieve high quality and have won many awards.
