From Bad Ischl to Hallstatt

The path from Ebensee to Hallstatt is one of prime hiking trails in Austria and leads along Lake Hallstaettersee and the Traun River through the Inner Salzkammergut. This tour guides you from Bad Ischl to Hallstatt.
Requirements and general information
The tour has no technical difficulties; the path has been newly adapted and is suited for adults and children alike. The family hiking path of the Salzkammergut! Basic hiking equipment like walking-shoes, rucksack (included in arrangement!), sun glasses, rain coat, hiking jacket and sweater is necessary for an enjoyable trip. The daily distance ranges from 10km and 20km.

1st Day:Individual arrival in Bad Ischl.

2nd Day: Bad Ischl - Bad Goisern, ~ 9 km, 3 hrs, difference in altitudeá 235 m / â224 m
Start at the esplanade Bad Ischl to the valley station of the Mount Katrin cable car, along the woody street you hike toward the small village Lauffen – the church of Lauffen was a famous place of pilgrimage – people were praying here for protection from the wild waters of the Traun River. Further along the river to Weissenbach and finally Bad Goisern.

3rd Day: Bad Goisern – Eastern Lake Shore Hiking Trail – Obertraun - Hallstatt ~19 km, 5 h, altitude difference á 127 m / â102 m
From Bad Goisern in the direction of Lake Hallstättersee and along the eastern shore - with magnificent views of Hallstatt and the Dachstein Glacier - to Obertraun and further on to Hallstatt. Short cut: ferry from Hallstatt train station to Hallstatt market. Saving about 8km. Ferry has to be paid on the spot. Explore this historical village.

4th Day:Free day to spend in Hallstatt
Spend your free day in Hallstatt or drive to Obertraun to visit the 5-fingers-platform and the Dachstein caves.

5th Day:Individual departure or additional nights can be booked.
Boat trip in the morning from Hallstatt Market to the train station – take the train back to Bad Ischl. (Don’t forget to take your luggage with you!). Unfortunately today is already your last day in the beautiful Salzkammergut!
